Preparing for the Camino
Two years has past since I first began to think about walking the Camino de Santiago. This long and winding road of preparation is about over as I anticipate heading to Spain in less than 6 weeks. Other than packing my clothes, I think I'm ready! My specialty gear rests patiently inside my backpack, my walking shoes are broken in, I've read the Brierly guide cover to cover, and my first night reservations in SJPP are in place. In short order, I'll head north to Montreal to catch an overnight Air France flight to Paris. A few hours later, the highspeed TGV will hurl me south toward Saint Jean Pied de Port. On the morning of April 29th, I take my first steps on this historical trail traveled by so many pilgrims over the oast millennia. Although thousands walk the Camino every years, I still enter a pretty special brotherhood of following the way of Saint James that most will never know. ¡Buen Camino!
